Gaza St. Porphyrios

August 29th, 2025

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

The Holy Orthodox Order of Saint George the Great Martyr speaks with unyielding severity: Gaza has become a Golgotha of our age, and the blood of its innocents cries out to heaven while the rulers of this world drown it out with lies. We commend the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate and the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, who in faithfulness to Christ have declared that they will not abandon their flock in Gaza City.

Within those sacred walls lie the starving, the elderly, the children, the disabled—the forgotten of this world. But they are not forgotten by us. They are not merely names on a list; they are our brothers and sisters, our friends and family, our flesh and blood. By refusing to flee, the Patriarchates have embraced the Cross, bearing witness to Christ Himself. Their courage condemns the cowardice of leaders who speak of order while unleashing chaos, who praise human rights while crushing them beneath tanks.

Let it be said plainly: the announced plan to seize Gaza City and scatter its people is not war—it is eradication. It is not defense—it is desecration. It is not security—it is sin. To exile a people from their homeland is to spit in the face of the Creator. To bomb churches and starve children is to heap up curses upon your own heads. Those who design such evil, those who justify it, those who fund it—blood is upon your hands.

And we name the guilt: woe to the governments of the West, who arm this slaughter and then pretend clean hands. Woe to the leaders who send weapons and then issue hollow words of “concern.” Woe to those who hide behind diplomacy while financing destruction. Woe to the powerful who place profit above mercy and alliances above justice. Your hypocrisy is as detestable as the cruelty it enables. You speak of international law while trampling it. You speak of peace while pouring oil upon the fire. You speak of morality while you barter away human lives.

The silence of your churches is no better. Those who fear to speak truth for fear of offense—your silence is betrayal. Every unspoken word condemns you.

Enough of the lies, the sieges, the massacres disguised as “operations,” the starvation passed off as “strategy.” The nations have chosen complicity; the leaders have chosen cowardice. The Order demands: stop this slaughter. Protect the sanctuaries of God. End the exile of Gaza’s people. Free the captives. Feed the starving. Restore the dignity of every soul. Do not dare to speak of civilization while you permit barbarity. Do not dare invoke justice while you bankroll injustice.

We declare before heaven and earth: the Lord of Hosts is not mocked. He who cast Pharaoh into the sea, who shattered Babylon, who struck Herod in his pride—He sees, He hears, and He will repay. Your thrones will fall, your power will rot, your nations will bear the shame of their complicity unless you repent. The blood of Gaza is upon you, and history will curse your names.

Saint George, who faced the dragon, did not compromise—he destroyed it. So too will the dragon of war, vengeance, and cruelty be cast down, not by the strength of armies but by the justice of Almighty God. Let all the world know: the Church will not abandon her children, Gaza will not be erased, the cries of the oppressed will not be silenced, and the God of Justice will have the final word.

The Order remains steadfast in its commitment to the community of Saint Porphyrios, to Archbishop Alexios of Tiberias, to the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, and to all Christians who live and breathe across Gaza, the Holy Land, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, and the wider Middle East.
