The Holy Orthodox Order of Saint George the Great Martyr welcomes UN Security Council Resolution 2728. This resolution demands an immediate ceasefire for the remainder of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
The Order calls upon the international community to swiftly enforce this resolution. We ask for aid in the relief of human suffering and loss of life.
While this resolution is an important step to addressing the man-made catastrophe in Gaza, it is not enough. It is essential to work towards a permanent ceasefire and lasting peace in the region.
In addition, the Order joins the global community in calling for unhindered access to humanitarian aid in Gaza. We must help assist in preventing further food scarcity. This man-made famine threatens the lives of all who survive this war.
The Order remains committed to the community at St. Porphyrios Orthodox Church, to Archbishop Alexios of Tiberias, to the Christians of Gaza, to the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, and to all the Orthodox Christians who live and breathe across the Holy Land and Levant.
In a recent post on Facebook, St. Porphyrios Orthodox Church confirmed that we are the only charitable organization with a blessing to raise funds for the Orthodox community in Gaza.
